Why choose Pimlico Academy?

We recognise that, as a parent, choosing a secondary school is one of the most important decisions we make. We need to ensure that we select the right school because we are entrusting our children into its care for the next 5 to 7 years. We are committed to working with parents to ensure we can offer the best possible school for your children.

Curriculum

We are unashamedly ambitious in our curriculum offer. We believe that children from all backgrounds are entitled to learn and know the very best that has been thought and said. The Pimlico Academy curriculum is carefully planned and sequenced to ensure every student develops the powerful knowledge that gives them the freedom to take on the next challenge in their educational journey. Our teachers are true experts, committed to making sure that every child not only learns more but remembers more in every subject.
Our curriculum is academically ambitious, offering knowledge that is often the reserve of the independent sector, yet delivered through clear and effective teaching so that all children can succeed. Many of our subjects include Key Stage 3 programmes designed by the Future Academy Trust’s Curriculum Centre. These schemes of work are central to our approach, prioritising your child’s learning during the crucial transition years: from Year 6 into secondary school and from Year 9 into GCSE study.

We take time to choose what knowledge to teach with care, prioritising that which will have the greatest value for our students in later life. We think deeply about how to teach it so that children remember it and understand how different parts of the curriculum connect. This deliberate approach ensures that learning is not fragmented but forms a coherent body of knowledge that grows over time.

Pastoral Care

At Pimlico Academy, pastoral care is not an add-on. It is the foundation of a school culture where every child is known, valued and safe. We believe that disruption-free learning should be the norm for all, ensuring that every student can learn with confidence and ambition. Our school culture is often described by families and visitors as calm, purposeful, and ambitious.

Our pastoral and inclusion teams work hand-in-hand with teaching staff throughout the day, both in and out of lessons, to ensure students are supported academically, socially and emotionally. In addition to the foundations of strong classroom teaching, we also use a range of pastoral interventions to support our children to thrive. We work closely with families, external agencies and community partners to provide the right support at the right time, tailored to each child’s needs.
We take a zero-tolerance approach to bullying, with swift action, transparent communication and highly visible staff who build strong relationships with students. Through high-quality pastoral education, assemblies and tutor time, students develop the character, habits and self-discipline needed to flourish at school and beyond.

Personal Development

The Pimlico Promise

At Pimlico Academy, we believe that an exceptional education goes far beyond the classroom. Our commitment to educating the whole child is guaranteed through the Pimlico Promise.
This is our promise to every student and parent that their time with us will be defined by a world-class enrichment programme. It is a guarantee that each child will receive a breadth of experiences designed to build their knowledge, aspiration and character.
We are passionate about removing barriers to students in accessing enrichment opportunities. We have an extensive universal offer to ensure that every student will experience a wide range of enrichment activities, regardless of their personal circumstances.

The Pimlico Promise Pillars
The Pimlico Promise guarantees that student’s enrichment journeys will be built on five essential pillars:
Curriculum
We want students to deepen and extend their understanding of our curriculum beyond the classroom. This includes trips to universities like LSE and Sussex, academic clubs such as FTC Robotics, and subject-specific events like trips to London Zoo and HMS Belfast.

Culture
We want to broaden student’s horizons and provide access to transformative cultural experiences. This is vividly seen in residential trips such as Rome and Paris, as well as whole-year group visits to world-class theatre shows such as Wicked.

Character
We want to build resilience, teamwork, and leadership. This is developed through the Duke of Edinburgh's Award, active learning day trips and residentials to Cuffley Active Learning Centre, our character curriculum and a diverse range of assemblies and clubs.
Community
We want to foster a sense of belonging, responsibility, and civic duty in all of our students. This is achieved through our school council, Pimlico Parliament, Culture Day, and charity events such as our Christmas Food Bank collection.
Careers

We believe it is our duty to prepare our students for a bright future. We guide students along clear, ambitious, and tangible pathways into adulthood. This starts from Year 7 with careers fairs and becomes highly focused in KS4 and KS5 with work experience, multiple Careers Insight Days and specialised trips such as the Y12 Future Medics visit to Imperial College London.
